Shailyn Pierre-Dixon is an exciting new face to watch on CBC-TV's The Book of Negroes. The 11-year-old portrays the young Aminata Diallo in the epic miniseries based on Lawrence Hill's novel. CBC Connects sat down with her to find out why she wanted to play the part, how she felt when she won the role and what it was like shooting in South Africa.
